Friends of Loveland Reservoir

We have witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of mismanagement at Loveland Reservoir, and we are determined to prevent it from ever reaching dead pool status again. Loveland Reservoir offers numerous benefits, including serving as a vital water source for local wildlife, providing a fishing program for community members eager to learn the sport, and featuring hiking trails we want to see accessible from sunrise to sunset. Additionally, it acts as a crucial water supply for firefighters during active fire threats and helps fill Sweetwater Reservoir, one of our community’s sources of drinking water. It is essential to protect and sustainably manage this precious resource for the well-being of our community and the environment.

MISSION

Our mission is to use education and activism to encourage the restoration and protection of Loveland Reservoir. We envision a restored environmental and recreational minimum pool where plants, animals, and people thrive.

PURPOSE

FOLR was formed to address the lack of adherence to the easement at Loveland Reservoir given to the public through a land swap between the Sweetwater Authority and the US Forest Service in 1996. FOLR strives to bring awareness to this injustice and advocate for full restoration and adherence to the terms of the easement. We also strive to work with various agencies to bring improvements to Loveland Reservoir through volunteers, grants, and donations.
